What is Coaching and Counselling?
Counselling, coaching, and psychotherapy are not easily described in general statements. While counselling is generally for more acute situations, psychotherapy for long-term mental health issues, and coaching for long-term increased life-satisfaction/benefit they all vary depending on the personalities of the therapist/coach and the client. What is the experience like?
Anything done in person can be done over the phone or via Zoom. In-person energy/body-work is substituted with distance energy-work and is equally as effective. Although Kendra offers her presence, experience, knowledge, and wisdom you are in control of your experience. Kendra offers support in the process of self-discovery through many different ways including conversation, experiments, games, movement, stillness, body/energy-work, silence, emotional release, and assigned homework. Many tools for integrating this process into your daily life are given. Change requires an active effort on your part. In order to be most successful, you will have to invest time and energy both during your sessions and at home.
Coaching, trauma therapy, and counselling/psychotherapy, like everything in life, have both potential risks and benefits. Sometimes this work involves recalling and talking about unpleasant events in your life. Because of this, it may involve experiencing uncomfortable feelings including sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, disappointment, loneliness, or helplessness. There has been shown to be many benefits to this process, including a significant reduction of feelings of distress/anxiety/depression, more fulfilling relationships, increased satisfaction and happiness, inner-peace, and/or the resolution of specific problems.
